One thing that must be said for our Quad-Core Android car stereos is that they should not be disregarded just because of the arrival of our Octa-Core head units.

Why shouldn’t you disregard Quad-Core Android car stereos?

Although Quad (four) is half of Octa (eight), it doesn’t mean that it has half the qualities or 50% of the performance. Each Quad-Core chip works tirelessly to produce fast and fluid multitasking, generating smoother and swifter functionality. The advancement to Octa-Core is down to the technology being available and the improved efficiency. It’s the most practical development to make.

Why do people say Octa-Core Android car stereos are better?

Octa-Core car stereos are deemed better largely due to the advanced functionalities available compared to Quad-Core car stereos.

The more modern Octa-Core chips have two sets of Quad-Core processors. With double the number of processors, the tasks are split between them, drawing upon different cores for optimum performance. For instance, when more advanced tasks, such as 3D gameplay, are in action, the faster cores will take care of it, leaving the lesser cores to handle more day-to-day functionality like navigating through screens or browsing the web. This gives you a more fluid experience, but not necessarily twice the performance, like many assume.

Why are Quad-Core Android head units still favourable?

Quad-Core head units are still as powerful as some modern desktop computers and still have a wide range of functionality and adaptability, despite the arrival of Octa-Core head units.

The development to Octa-Core was a lot about efficiency and using the extra processors to manage and maintain the head unit’s overall performance, especially when multi-tasking. Therefore, it is faster and smoother, but depending on how you use your Quad-Core unit, the key differences and functionalities are not that noticeable. One reason for this is the Android Marshmallow 6.0 software installed on most of our Quad-Core head units; it’s the same as what we use on our Octa-Core units, so you still get the same high level of performance.
